Hi Ho, Hi Ho....

It's off to work I go!!

Ok, so I've been looking for a job for a while now and let me tell you, it is NOT easy.

The only way you seem to be able to get a job these days is through someone you know, which is extremely frustrating!!

I absolutely HATE job searching, and it's not like there are new vacancies every single day.

It just gets really old, really fast and it really, really gets you down.

I've done hair here and there, but I can't imagine working in a salon. Doing hair was something I enjoyed doing, but my college experience ruined it. My course was completely rushed and I recently found out we were taught in shortcuts and the people who went back for level 3 had to be taught the real way to do things, so that was a total blow and I've lost confidence in myself because I feel like I don't know what I'm doing, even though I know I actually do because I actually read up and watched videos and demo's constantly.

ANYWAY.

I have a job finally!

And I think I'm gonna really like it! It's an unusual one, which I like, and I get to learn loads and travel a bit.

People are going to have opinions on this no matter what, because people always do and that's fine, I have my own opinion, so you're more than welcome to have your own but I'm still excited and find it really interesting.

I'm going to be a tobacconist.

The shop I will be working in is almost 200 years old!!

I am so excited to start tomorrow, I get to learn about pipes, cigars, tobacco....and my personal favourite, whiskey!!

I'm obviously very nervous, it's never fun being the new kid on the block but I've already done a trial shift with the people who work there and it all seems pretty interesting and the people are nice!! Which is always good!

I am so glad this is something I can get my teeth into! I've missed learning and I have been told apparently there is a qualification I can go for, 'masters of cigars', and I would be the first girl to do it! So, obviously, I want to do it so bad, and be the first girl!

It does seem like a pretty male dominated industry but I really want to get into it and become a specialist!

But we all know, besides the money, the best part of a new job is, of course, shopping for new clothes!

I have to wear black or black and white, which is fine because I live in black anyway so I already had a lot of stuff in but I ran out and got myself some pretty darn cute brogues and some trousers and I have to say, they look pretty snazzy on. I love the men's tailored look and I think that's what I'm going to be investing in, because I plan on staying in this job until I've literally done all I can with it...which I hope is never, because there will always be more to learn and more products coming out, new techniques etc.

So yeah, blazers, boyfriend coats, brogues, loafers, trousers, crisp white shirts! I can't wait to get paid!

I also needed a coat but was pretty strapped for cash, I looked everywhere, even good ol' Primark and just couldn't find one I liked, I wanted smart but structured, what's with all the weird fuzzy and bobbly textures this season?? Anyway I never think to look in Forever 21 for coats...I don't know why but I went in and there on the sale rail was a black, military/nautical boyfriend coat in my size! PERFECT! looked at the tag and it was reduced from £47.75 to £22.99 so I grabbed it and ran to the till.....rang up at £16. Was the best day ever!
I always struggle finding coats but this is a keeper! I'm not a huge fan of the gold buttons but I've pressed the collar so it is more 'boyfriend' style because I'll only wear it open anyway and I love it!!!

F&F Brogues.

I just thought I'd write this post as a little update!

I think I may do a 'Back to Work' outfit post/series??

Sunday.....

Hmmm... I still havent really figured my blog out. I don't really know what it about or if it's even about anything in particular at all and my posts are pretty sparse because sometimes...... I just don't know what to write.

So, I think I might start a Sunday summary kind of post so that I can at least write one post a week.

I guess it will probably just be about what I've been up to and that sort of stuff. (they may be picture heavy occasionally with drunk/trashy pics!)

SO yeah, here goes week 1.

This has been a weird week, I've not actually done that much...

I've kind of been unofficially offered two jobs, so that's good...because I'm skint. But we'll see if anything actually  happens with them.....

Went out last Saturday with my two best friends and it was such a good night! Even if my feet were in agony the next day! Thats what dancing in heels til 6am does to you!!

Then had a little girly night in with Vicky on Friday watching tv which was nice!

Saturday and today were pretty sweet, actually, pretty amazing. But a bit of a mess. Oh, and I just happened to fall down the stairs - infront of someone!!! Embarrassing doesnt even cut it. Oopsyyy.

However, I've just had one of those moments when you say something and as soon as the words leave your lips you want to shove them back in, ARGH!!!!

Well here's some pictures from this week!!

Little bit of Christmas in Liverpool

And a couple from Halloween

So yeah, that's about it! :)

A Week in Pictures

So, I've not done one of these before, but I thought it'd be a nice little post.

It started off a little bit sad, and angry, well, no, a lot sad and angry, and one of my best mates was home for the weekend and he took it upon himself to pop round and bring some flavoured vodka and cheer me up.
What a guy. Seriously, any lovely ladies out there? He's a total babe! So yeah, he made me feel much, much better by making me laugh and making me listen to horrific music.

Then the day after that was my mates birthday night out, which was...a very, very weird night.

I've done a fair bit of cooking and baking this week too!

Also visited one of my bestest in her new flat...and got a sneaky Dominos.....

Then on Saturday, I went out for a birthday do-over with my friend because the last one was odd....I also wore pink....I've never worn pink before.

Also got back into running this week to try get back in shape.....I'm trying, I'm trying.

Might do one of these a week?

Golden Brown #binthebeds with St Moriz

Ok so, I know when I think of fake tan, I dont think of someone with an lovely golden all year round glow, I think of some kind of oompa loompa looking Jeremy Kyle reject

BUT, I am a HUGE fan of fake tan.

When I go on holiday, I dont tan, I mean I literally cant bake in the sun I hate it. I cant sit still, I get so fed up and restless and I dont change colour anyway, I go a nice shade of pink and then end up whiter than before. So when Im on holiday and everyone is sizzling away, Im usually in a one piece or an oversized tee with sunglasses and a big floppy hat with a book under a big umbrella.

Oh, thats after slathering myself in factor 50.

I know vitamin D is important and I do go out out in daylight - Im not a total vampire! I love sitting by the pool, or in the garden, I juat don't like total exposure.

Ive been this way since I was younger and got burned in Greece. It was horrible.

But my main reason for staying out of the sun is because my Dad died of skin cancer when I was 17.
He was diagnosed in November and passed away the following June.
It was the second time he'd had it.

It was down to the damage his skin suffered when he was younger and would go out in the sun and burn, not every time he went out, obviously, but on those odd occasions when his lotion was a lower factor.

It was a horrific thing to witness, as is watching anyone suffer with an illness.

It has made me so, so cautious with my skin and I vowed to never sunbathe or go in the sun without sufficient protection. And I havent.

And along comes fake tan. I really dont mind being pale at all, it suits me because thats just naturally how I am, but sometimes I just want a little bit of colour in my life!!!

I think fake tans have come so far ...(remember those 'tan towels'?!?!)

I remeber begging my mum to buy me some St Tropez when I was a teenager, because that was the best ever according to everyone else but it was more than £20 so she fobbed me off, but my best friends mum bought her it so we helped eachother out....it was a streaky hot mess!!

But these days there are tans by millions of brands and in a load of different forms (mousse, lotion, spray etc.), and to suit every budget.

My all time favourte two are Fake Bake and St Moriz. I only get fake bake when Im feeling flush or ask for it to fill my christmas or birthday list.

But St Moriz is my all time favourite, go to tan. Its so affordable and such great quality!! It doesnt streak on me and never makes me orange!!

Ive used the mousse for years and I love it. But just before christmas I won a christmas set on twitter (woooooo best set ever!!), and this came with the lotion and I fell in love!! I haven't been able to find the lotion in shops near me yet but I WILL hunt it down, its and absolute godsend.

I am so gutted, they just tweeted that theyre giving samples away in Liverpool today and I cant make it down!! I might shed a little tear.

They're giving samples and tips and are spreading the word on fake tanning, rather than using sunbeds. Which are super bad.

I love that theyre getting out there and actually interacting with people.

Definitely my favourite brand.

So run out and get some and #binthebeds !!!!!!

Competition Entry

So, as I said before (see previous post), here are a few pics from my competition.

I couldn't get very many because, well, because I was busy with her face!....

Introducing my lovely Vee.....

I just went for a romantic woodland windswept kind of look...... I enjoyed doing her make up sooo much! especially her lips!...We even went the pub for a celebratory lunch and she wouldn't take her make up off! What a babe!

Love's Not A Competition......But I'm #Winning...Kinda.

So, as you know from my previous posts, I've been super hectic with college lately doing work and practice in and out of college.

One of my assessments was to take part in a competition. We got told about this months ago and we had to make a mood board to reflect the theme we had gone with for the hair style.

I'll be honest, I was really into this when we first got told about it and figured I had ages to think of something, I mean the second it was mentioned I had an image of roses and pastels and waves and plaits but I couldn't work out what my theme would be if it involved all of that. So I kept putting it off and concentrating on revising for my 9 exams, but it quickly came around and I had no idea what I was going to do, so with a couple of days to go I went and bought a canvas ( a small one) and just stuck things that were on my wardrobe on it, I didn't put much effort in, which isn't like me, I love that kind of stuff, and handed it in. I said my theme was a 'dreamy summer romance/Titania from a Midsummer Nights Dream'.

The day before the competition, in the absolute pouring rain, my feet squelching, I ran to the pound shop because I am low on funds and thought they might have some little bits and bobs.....I came out with mini strip hair extensions, fairy wings, a bunch of plastic roses, some chalk and some paper craft roses. Then I decided to pop into good ol' Primark to see if they had anything because we also had to provide a costume and make up, but I ended up coming out with a floral crown/headband. Got home and  just looked at it all and still had no idea what I was going to do for a style.

Luckily for me, my model was my friend Vicky who has super thick, long, blonde hair, so I knew I'd be able to do something with it!

I sat her in the chair and just looked at her and said "I know how I want your make up....but I still haven't got a clue what I'm gonna do with your head', so I decided to curl her whole head.
This turned out to be a good idea, it looked lovely! Then I decided I wanted some volume so made a quiff and it all looked a little plain but pretty so I did two plaits either side of her head and brought them around and secured them under the quiff. Time seemed t be running away so I wired in a few pink paper roses throughout it and cracked on with her make up.

I wanted a weird kind of mystical look and I knew I wanted her to have blue eyeliner that came right out onto her face and some little gems here and there so she sparkled...she also ended up with blue eyebrows and a row of gems above each one!! Then I was thinking of something to do with her lips to tie in with her eyes...so I coloured them in blue too! but then I glued little gems all over and they looked amazing!!

On went the flower crown and the earthy dress and wings and bunch of roses and the judges came in.

I sat in the corner with my friends from class and looked around knowing I wouldn't win anything, people had lions manes and DIY celery hair extensions and pipecleaners and stuff, but I wasn't really too fussed because I hadn't gone in with a plan or anything.

Then the ridiculous happened.....I came second. I still have no idea how. Really. I even asked why I got picked and my tutor said it was for the simplicity and the detail and I had stuck to my theme and the make up  was great ( which I think is a bit stupid for a hair comp to be fair) and I felt quite bad as we had an option to use the make up students on our models and in the end I was marked up because I had done it myself, and a lot of the class has used the make up students. We weren't told that we'd get extra brownie points for doing it ourselves so I think that was a little unfair. But hey, I came second and I'm beyond happy and amused by that!

I even got a little prize. We use Wella products in college and we got a little Wella goody bag!

This is what it looked like..........

Just a few random products! I could however, sit here and sniff the shampoo forever. I love shampooing peoples hair with Brilliance, it just smells so damn good!! They also threw in a Max Factor Lipfinity Lasting Lip Tint!

Can't wait to use them all!! :)

I'll post some pics of my competition entry too!!

p.s......if anyone would like to donate a new camera...that would be marvellous haha!
